Bennett isn’t the place for your first driving job. While not always the case, we are often an owner operator’s third carrier and that’s a good thing. Whether you cut your teeth as a company driver elsewhere or you have your own authority, Bennett is your home for the rest of your career. Check out our qualifications and requirements.

Driver Qualifications

  • Must be 23 years of age
  • Verifiable Class A experience/1 year over the road in the last 3 years
  • Able to pass federal DOT Physical and Drug Screen
  • No alcohol related offenses in the past 5 years
  • No more than one moving violation in the past 12 months. No more than two in the last 36 months.
  • No DOT preventable recordable accidents within the past 12 months
  • No history of reckless or careless driving in the past 36 months
  • Satisfactory work history (all terminations reviewed for safety related issues)

Flatbed/Open Deck

  • 6 months flatbed/open deck verifiable experience in the past 24 months*

*If you have 6 months open deck experience more than 2 years ago and less than 10 years ago, you can qualify for open deck by attending a local securement awareness program during orientation

Equipment Requirements

Tractor:

  • Must be ELD compatible

Flatbed/Stepdeck Division:

  • Headache rack on tractor
  • Minimum of (10) 5/16" grade 70 chains
  • Minimum of (10) 5/16" grade 70 binders

    OR

  • Minimum of (10) 3/8" grade 70 chains
  • Minimum of (10) 3/8" grade 70 binders
  • OR A BLEND of 5/16" and 3/8" grade 70
  • Minimum of (10) straps (4")
  • Minimum of (10) winches
  • Tarps Optional but recommend 6 or 8 foot drop tarps for 48 foot trailer
  • Center pin on 7 way plug continuously powered (no switch)

Heavy Haul Division:

  • Cab mounted Headache Rack on tractor
  • Minimum of (10) 1/2” Grade 70 Chains/Binders
  • OR A BLEND OF: (5) 1/2” & (5) 3/8” Grade 70 Chains/Binders
  • Tarps are optional (Recommend full set for 48ft trailer with 8ft drops)
  • Minimum of (10) straps (4")
  • Minimum of (10) winches
  • Working strobe light (1)
  • Center pin on 7 way plug continuously powered (no switch)
  • Wide Load Signs (2)
  • Flags (Maximum)
