Cookin’ Jambalaya and Enjoying the “Good Company”
On a hot day in early July, we ran into Jimmie coming out of the air-conditioned driver’s lounge in McDonough, GA. We struck up a conversation and learned that Jimmie was in town to pick up a 14-foot-wide section of a bridge. He had to wait for the load a couple of days, but he didn’t mind because he really appreciates the drivers lounge and hanging out getting to catch up with people. “It’s comfortable here” he says,”and there’s good company. I like that I can cook my own meals and not have to eat restaurant food.” It’s true – the lounge has a kitchen, a little living room area with a TV and showers. Jimmie’s from New Orleans and likes to use the lounge to cook jambalaya, gumbo and dirty rice while he’s here enjoying the “good company”.
